We have that problem sometimes, too. Even though our beds are ginormous, we like to sleep half way in and half way out. You would look good on that really big "bed" though!
I thinks it just needs moving over a bit so you can still look through the door and be all snug at the same time. So what if the peoples have to step over you, they have big legs.
