Hot Cross Buns

Hot cross buns! Hot cross buns!
One a penny two a penny -
Hot cross buns.
If you have no daughters,
give them to your sons.
One a penny two a penny -
Hot cross buns!

Hey everypup, it's me - Zim! Amber will get back to the sleepy poses posts tomorrow, but I wanted to share this Hot Cross Bun picture with my very sweet friend, Ivy! Dave told her that I'd be helping Mom make Hot Cross Buns for Easter weekend and maybe I could send her some; that's one of them in the picture. They look yummy, don't they? We worked really hard on those and I was a big help and I was SURE I could snag some for us and for Ivy. But Mom put raisins in them... and that means no Hot Cross Buns for the Ao4. Cats! Raisins are on the Forbidden Foods list ... so we aren't allowed to have them and I don't want to make Ivy sick, so we didn't send her any, either. Sorry.

I thought that poem was kinda goofy - but Dave and I went around saying it anyway only we said, "...even if you have daughters, give them to your sons..." just to tease Stormy and Amber. Amber kept giggling anyway, though, and I finally asked her what was so funny!?!? She said she was thinking about a joke... I just HAD to ask her what the joke was. Are you ready, readers?

What do you get if you pour boiling water down a rabbit hole?

Give up? Hot, cross bunnies.

Ha roo roo roo! Ammy tells such silly jokes - but I have to admit..... they're funny!

Ivy - sorry I can't give the mailman any Hot Cross Buns to bring to you! I hope you liked Amber's joke though.

Play bows,
Zim

  1. Those look yummy, they can just leave the raisins out and send them on. :)

I have to use that joke on Tucker later, it'll crack him up.

  3. Oh, Amber is so silly! I would welcome her company in our Flock.

Scones with currants were made at our den this weekend. We were told currants may well be like raisins, so we were unable to try them. But we do have homebaked Cookies especially for us! So we don't complain.

    Sincerely,
    Tansy

  5. We loved Ammy's joke! Hey guess what one time when Uncle Aaron was visiting he left out a huge dark chocolate with espresso bar out in his room with the door open and Madie found it and ate all the rest of it (which was a ton)! We were all worried about her and by the time everyone found out what happened it was too late to make her barf! She was CRAZY! For 2 days after that! She couldn't stay still and would run around and it made everyone very very worried! But she ended up being okay! Mom and Papa prayed for her too so God watched out for her. Uncle Aaron felt really bad too and from now on makes sure that Madie can't get his dark chocolate with espresso when he visits.

  10. Oh, now you've done it. Mom is going to try to bake. She ALWAYS burns herself when she bakes so it doesn't happen too often but those hot cross buns look so yummy, she wants some. Maybe she will make some of them without raisins and share with us. More likely, she will add raisins to all of them so she doesn't have to share!

  11. Mama asked that you not post pics of food on your blog. I have drooled all over the keyboard and Mama can't get it out and the keys are sticking.

  15. Oh to have just a little taste of such a tasty looking homemade hot cross bun!! Drool, drool. We love the food theme that has been included in several of your last posts. We are always up for trying new foods, but mum has the forbidden food list of the fridge which has,I must say, limited the range of food we can sample.

  16. Hi Zim. That bun sure looks good. Too bad there's raisins. We love bread. Mom gives it to us but not dad. Have to try to bring him around! We loved Amber's joke too. Is it OK if you CHASE hot, cross bunnies? Belly Rubs, Tasha & Eva.

  17. Thrawn: I hope Tucker liked the joke! You've GOTTA wonder why Mom had to put raisins in ... you know!?!?

Marvin: Me, too = but don't tell her I said that! Ha roo roo roo!

Dear Tansy: You'd LOVE Amber. She's silly, sweet, strong - and she likes to herd!
Oooh, I love to help make scones! I helped make blueberry ones once and got to try a piece. It was soooo good! Would you share your cookie recipe? Maybe I could make some!

Kat: "Comedia-dogs"!?! Ha roo roo roo! Good one!

China & Madie: Oooh, chocolate is REAL high on the Forbidden Foods list! I'm glad Madie was OK! Whew!

Holly: Maybe I should find the recipe and cross off "raisins"! They smelled all spicy and yummy!

Indy: Imagine if you could SMELL them!

Maggie: To listen to the bipeds, they were killer good!

Sitka: Can you do that!?!? And if so, can you teach me how!?!?

Roxie, Sammy & Andy: Ooooh, I hope your mom stays safe! Maybe if all three of you help out in the kitchen, she'll do OK. Safety first! I hope she makes something yummy you can all share!

Chelsea: Ha roo roo roo! That's payback for all the boy doggies drooling over the pictures of YOU on your blog!

    Play bows,
    Zim

  18. Rocky: They looked so good. And smelled even better. If you were here, you probably would have been able to figure out how to get us some! And happy Easter to you, too!!

Fu Fu: I forgot you can have raisins! Wow. I should have saved you some. The bipeds ate a lot of them - and I think froze the rest. Maybe I can figure out how to open the really cold part of the magic cold box.
    Amber always cracks me up!

Joe: You'd love Amber. Honest. I know you don't get along with girl doggies, but she's different.

Jazz & Dixie: Can you imagine one of those buns with a CAPPUCCINO?!?!? Whoa. Oh. And wait until you see tomorrow's (WED) almost food-themed post! HA rooooo!

Tasha & Eva: We don't get much "people" food at all. :( A guy can dream, though.
I think it's OK to chase hot, cross bunnies - as long as there isn't a hot, cross alpha-Siberian looking! Ha roo roo roo!

    Play bows,
    Zim
