Thanks from Dave

Woooo! It's me, everypup! Dave! Thank woo so much for all the really nice comments you left the other day! It's so great to have friends!

You guys are the BEST!

I feel tons better now! I know Hollybollyboo is still my very special and bee-woo-tiful Malagal, am still blushing from some of the very sweet comments left by some of the girl pups, and was REALLY touched by the message Summit the Super Mal left me! He wants to be friends, isn't that great!?!? He even offered, "Paw out for a friendly shake?" What a swell guy! I'm all for being friends! Thanks, Summi! My paw's out for you!

Everything's OK now... if only Mom would stop trying to sing that song Tucker left in the comments .... "everydoggy plays the fool sometimes ...There's no exception to the rule. Listen, Davy ..."

Woo! Mom ... please! Woo.

She does much better when we "woo" together to old Sergio Mendes songs!

Luv,
Dave

Crashed!

Ha roo, pups! Zim here. Wow, am I exhausted after helping Dave work out yesterday! I was going to go downstairs and do some stuff myself ... but I couldn't quite make it all the way down there.

I've fallen ... and I can't get up!

Ha roo roo roo! Not really, but Mom says I look like I just crashed down there. What can I say ... I'm a guy who knows how to relax. Any time, any where.

Speaking of guys who know what they want (more or less) ... Mom saw this video yesterday and couldn't stop laughing. She said the cat seemed "very Siberian". Hmm. Perhaps.

Yeah... the cute poses at the end of the video look mighty familiar! HA roo roo roo!

Play bows,
Zim

Pumpin' Up

Woo, it's me - Dave. I guess by now a lot of you have heard the news. The bee-woo-tiful Hollybollyboo has thrown me over for Summit the Super Mal. I can't blame her - he's really quite the guy. And he's a big Malamute like Holly. That got me to thinking ... maybe if I started pumping some iron, I could get all big and strong like a Malamute instead of being a nice, medium-sized sprinter of a Siberian. Which is what I am.

I went downstairs and headed into the workout room to see about using the equipment in there. First, I checked out the big weight machine. That's how Dad gets his strong muscles - maybe it'll work for me!

Let's start over here on this station.

I can work lots of different muscle groups here.

Wait a minute. How do I get up here?

I gave it a try from the other side.

Nah... didn't look good from there, either. I decided to go over to the bench press area.

I'm sorry, but that bench is WAY too narrow. No way I'm going to get up on that!

Hmmm... what's that over there on the floor?

AH! Little hand-held weights!

Oooh, they're kind of slippery!

I grunted and panted and everything, but they were a tad slippy ... and heavy.

And I don't have hands, anyway. You know ... for the hand-held weights.

I considered getting up on the Elliptical machine, but couldn't quite get my feety-feet aligned on the paw-pads.

I threw in the towel and headed back upstairs.

When I got up there, Zim reminded me that Mom has some little dumbbells that she works out with. Amber made a joke, but I can't remember what it was. Something to do with the dumbbells and who Mom works out with. I dunno. Even Ammy's jokes can't cheer me up right now. All I can think about is winning back Holly! It was just really nice of Zim to help me out.

Hey, Dave! Try one of these! They're lighter and have a cool rubbery coating on them! They're easier to grip than the ones downstairs.

Isn't he a great guy!?! My brother always has my six. He was named after a Drill Sergeant, so he knows about doing PT and all.

Thanks, Zim; do you really think they'll work?

I wasn't quite sure what to do with them, but then Mom set down another even smaller one. Color-wise, it looked like something I'm very familiar with and I knew just what to do!

Oh, yeah! I'm all over this!

Mom took it away from me. She probably doesn't want me to over-do on my first day working out ... don't you think?

(It does look a lot like my really cool real dinosaur bones, doesn't it? There's a stack of them right behind me!)

This working out is really tiring. I hope I did a good job; I've got to get Holly back! Amber suggested a poem, but I've already written her one. Zim said if the working out thing doesn't pan out, I should pick some flowers for her. Stormy had an idea of what I should do "for" Summit ... but that's not my style. I never go looking for trouble! If anypup has any more ideas, please let me know! I'll be in the bedroom sulking if anypup needs me. Woo.

Luv,
Dave

Sunday Salute - Nikki!

This week, our Sunday Salute goes out to our dear friend Nikki of South Africa!

Frequent readers of our blog may remember previous posts about Nikki - she has shared some incredible adventures with us, a frightening bath story (aren't they all frightening?!?), and we've shared some of her other great tales (tails?) with you, too! And now ... she's about to set out on a really exciting endeavor! She's helping her bipeds move! Check out the scene at her house:

This isn't just any "ordinary" move! Nikki and her bipeds (and her cat friend, Kengele) are changing hemispheres! They're moving all the way from South Africa to Northern Cyprus (TRNC)!

Look at how hard Nikki's been working!

I need some peace and quiet!

Woo is me; this is incredibly hard work!

She helped them get everything all packed up, supervising everyone and making sure everything was squared away! "Hey! Be careful with my toys!"

Nikki made sure everything was loaded on to the truck, then waved her "stuff" good-bye! "See you in NC!"

Nikki and her bipeds fly out on the 30th. Her bipeds will fly from South Africa to Dubai, then to Larnaca in Southern Cyprus -- like so:

Nikki's route will take her to Amsterdam, Istanbul, then Nicosia. Here's her route:

That's a LOT of flying around! Kengele the kitty will fly out and meet them later; she had some things to take care of first.

Please say some prayers for Nikki and her family; this is a big move for them, and scary plane rides for Nikki and Kengele.

Nikki, for all you do - and for the new adventures you're going to have in Northern Cyprus - we salute you! Bon voyage!

Full Moon

Ha roo, everypuppy! It's me - Amber! Did anypuppy notice there was a full moon last night?

Did anypuppy do anything extremely fun? And perhaps just a bit silly? We usually do ... so it's hard to pin our behavior down on being caused by a full moon. It did remind me of a good joke.

Did you hear about the restaurant on the moon? It has great food, but no atmosphere. Hee hee hee! As the Meteorology instructor at the Stormy Zoluschka Kryschtal School of Siberian Studies, I find that one really, really funny. Zimmie didn't get it at first, so I told him another joke. This was a blond joke, but I changed it to Afghan Hounds, as they seem like the blonds of the K9 world. No offense to any Afghan Hounds out there!

Two Afghan Hounds here in Kansas were sitting on a bench talking. One Afghan Hound says to the other, "Which do you think is farther away ... Florida or the moon?" The other Afghan Hound turns and says, "Helloooooooooo, can you see Florida from here...?" Hee hee hee!

OK, while I'm on a full moon shaped-roll, here's a video of a funny commercial for you - starring the Sun and the Moon.

Get it? "No thanks, I'm full." Hee hee hee!

Have a great day, everypuppy!

Love,
Amber

Zoomies!

Wooo! It's me again - Davy! Sorry for the delay in posting comments and all yesterday. Dad unhooked the whole computer and Mom cleaned everything and then they rewired and changed things around a bit and it took WAY too long! Woo. It exhausted me, as you can see:

Dad... I'm exhausted ... let's hold feety-feet!

Which reminds me ... have you seen our friends Summer and Prince's blog? Surf on over to Team Husky! I am SO flattered - they honored me with a Salute! Imagine that! They voted ME, Dave, as The Ao4's Cuddliest Member. Woo. Mom says they're right on target! Thank woo, Team Husky!

I promised you another video of me and my kid brother Zim. This one is longer and is even more action-packed! Mom filmed us playing Zoomies in the living room and dining room! Please make sure you notice one of my signature maneuvers - seeing how close I can get to the dining room hutch. (That's where all the china is stored.) Isn't it exciting?!!? I know it always gets Mom excited!

Oh, and Amber comes in to referee us. She's really good at that - you know those Calming Signals and all. I think Guinness is really good at this, too. Mom's voice sounds weird; just ignore her.

Here we are:

Hope you enjoyed that. Try out that dining room hutch maneuver and see if your moms like it! Oh ... and no, we've never broken anything. We're VERY good at Zoomies!
Luv,
Dave

New Video of Dave and Zim

Woo, everypup, it's me - Dave! Thanks for all your kind words yesterday about my knee; I'll go back in and respond to each and every one of them after I take Mom on our walk. Rest assured that I'm really feeling good, and still run around and jump like a pogo stick and all. No one knew I had a problem until the vet was giving me a leg massage. She said I'm "stoic". Woo.

Mom shot a couple videos of me and Zim yesterday. I thought I'd share the short one with you today. I'm on the left; Zim is on the right.

That's Mom's leg supporting my real dinosaur bone. Mom's good at holding toys but really needs to work on her video-taking skills.

Luv,
Dave

PS: For those of you who upload vids through Blogger ... does it take forever? Just curious!

Following Doctor's Orders!

Woooooooo, everypupper! It's me - Dave! Before I tell you my news of the day, I wanted to congratulate some more Troopers in the Army of Four for their outstanding work!

Our buddy Staff Sergeant Sherman of the Dogs of Jackman Avenue was quick to post in. He's done a fantastic job; check it out! Jackman Avenue is in good paws!

Tail Gunner Steve, of Steve, Kat & Wilbur has been hard at it! Being a Tail Gunner is historically a VERY dangerous job - be safe out there, Steve! I wonder if your mom would let you wear that cool scarf you wore when you went flying while you're performing your 4Runner Tail Gunner duties? You just looked so cool in it! Woo.

The whole Kapp Pack, to include their houseguest Hennessey, have outdone themselves. Kelsey Ann, Canyon & Sky have perfected some outstanding cute poses. Those are really helpful - especially for us Siberians! They just melt bipeds' hearts!

Marvin has also briefed us up on his accomplishments to date. He has been training hard and is really putting a lot of miles in. We're counting on him to cover the entire UK, so his training is right on target! Way to go, Marv-man!

A couple more Troopers left questions in our comment sections and we'll respond to those by COB today. Be sure to check back later!

When I went to the vet's the other day, my Dr. Dixon recommended that we increase the amount of Omega-3s in my diet to help combat a bit of a knee problem I've been hiding. I'm already on Cosequin DS to help my joints, but now we're adding a pump of "EicosaDerm" to my supper-duppers. I might have torn a ligament or something, and this will help with tissue repair. Anywoo, there was some concern about whether or not I'd like it.

Here I am, trying it:

Mmm... supper-dupper time!

And here's how I responded:

Woooo, what's this oily stuff?

Can you see my left front footy-foot? Here's a closer shot for you:

Mmmm....

Needless to say, I love it. I couldn't get enough of it - and wanted to lick every single drop of it out of my supper-dupper bowl. What can I say ... I'm a good eater.

Keep us posted on your mission progress! In the meantime, I'll keep being a member of the Clean Bowl Club!

Luv,
Dave

A Coronation!

That's right, pups, there's been a coronation right here in Kansas! And a coup. And another coronation. WHEW! It's been wild!

Ha roo, everypup, it's me - Zim. Wowzers, do I have incredible news to share! It involves some guy named the Kaw King. I think it might have to do with that Johnny Kaw guy that I reported on a long time ago. Here's what's been going on:

A couple weeks ago, Mom said the Kaw King had to be replaced in the Master Bathroom. Now, that seems like an odd place for a coronation to me, but I've heard some people refer to there being a throne in there ... so who am I to argue? I think it's behind me here, as I'm doing my "Super Zim" pose:

Super Zim

Anyroo, so the Kaw King was replaced a couple weeks ago. I think Mom had something to do with it. Then this weekend, Mom and Dad were doing all kinds of projects, like replacing electrical outlets outside, and Mom said something about having to admit that the new Kaw King wasn't working out. Dad agreed. So somehow, there was a coup, and Mom ousted the old Kaw King. Whoa! Don't mess with Mom! I came into the bathroom at one point to see if I could lend a paw, and this is what I saw:

Hey, Mom! What's this thing on the floor?

She said it was the Kaw King's gun. WOWZERS, you wouldn't think he'd leave something like that laying around, would you? Mom said it wasn't loaded, though. I wonder how Mom got it away from him? How cool!

What's this other stuff?

I wanted to check everything out and make sure Mom was OK. I think maybe Mom saw my post the other day about how I helped out when Abrush and Aroller were here, though, 'cuz she started muttering all kinds of stuff about how her first clue that the first new Kaw King wasn't going to work out should have been that it cleaned up real easily with just water and how maybe I shouldn't help with the new Kaw King. I was a tad concerned about her at that point; I didn't see the King anywhere! Nothing she said made any sense to me! But she went on about this new Kaw King being really hard to get off of anything and she didn't want it on "somepuppy's snooter" (wonder who she meant!) and said, "Excuse me, please," which is how Stormy trained her to ask us to back away. Fine. I had other things to do, anyway.

Me, moving on to another important task

So... the Kaw King who was installed a couple weeks ago is gone and the new Kaw King is in place. Mom said today will be the big test to see how he does in hot water.

The King is dead; long live the King!

Play bows!
Zim

Mission Status

Ha roo, pups! It's me, Stormy, Supreme Commander of the Ao4. I'd like to congratulate the Troopers in the Ao4 - our latest mission is coming along splendidly! We've had some great p-updates from Tasha and Eva, China and Madie, saw Girl Girl doing some great hamsterberian-type training ... and I know the rest of you are working hard, too! (Forgive me if I've left someone off who has posted a mission p-update; it's been wild around here lately!) Anyroo... yesterday, our feline friend Tia reported in! She and Sitka have completed their part of the mission - and did an incredible job! I listened to her briefing, hanging on every "meow" and watching her body language closely:

Yep, yep ... great work, Tia!

Wait! What was that? SGT Zim! Check this out! You aren't going to believe it!

I couldn't believe how Tia (and Sitka) had fooled everyone! I called Zim in to check it out - he's the only other member of the Ao4 who speaks Cat!

Oh, wow, Storm! I can't believe it, either! The Chiefs are going to beat Oakland!

He's a great guy, but sometimes his focus is off. "Sitka's mission report, Zim!"

Oh, yeah! That's remarkable, too! Great work, Tia and Sitka!

Tia - you and Sitka have done an amazing job! Great work, Troopers!

How is everypup else doing? Report in when you can!

Stormy,

Sunday Salute - Sibes in the US Military!

This week, our Sunday Salute goes out to Sibes who have served in our nation's military! We used to help our mom write a column for the Historical and Archaeological Society of Fort Riley's newsletter. The column was called "Ask the Docents", and we answered any questions about Ft. Riley's history or military history questions. One month, we fielded the question, "Did Siberian Huskies ever serve in the United States Army?” The short answer is “yes”, and we would like to share that information with you now!

Described as a working dog with high intelligence, it was only natural for the military to put the Siberian to use. Initially, the Siberian Husky was tried as a sentry but our friendly, gentle temperament made us Sibes unsuitable as guard dogs. We look the part, but we are born people-lovers! The Army therefore decided to use the Siberian more in keeping with our heritage – as sled dogs who love people!

Historic sled dogs, waiting to GO!

In the fall of 1942, the Quartermaster Corps began a training program to provide sled dogs for search and rescue missions. The Siberian’s athletic ability, combined with our compassion for man and alert demeanor made our kind ideally suited for this work. The sled teams’ missions were to organize search and rescue groups to recover downed pilots and cargo, and to remove/pull casualties from the battlefield. The speed of these Sibes helped rescue and save those men who were injured, freezing or starving. Way to go!

During WWII’s Battle of the Bulge, hip-deep snow and higher drifts hindered ambulances and stretcher bearers from reaching fallen soldiers. Lives were being lost due to the delays and Siberians were called to duty! C-47s were dispatched to the Arctic to pick up and transport over 200 sled dogs to the battlefield; four days later, the dogs and drivers arrived in France. A remarkable record was set getting these dogs in, but despite the efforts, they were not used – the weather had cleared and the snow melted. As one musher put it, the record was for the “most sled dogs assembled at one point, and not used at all.” Can't say they didn't try!

Siberians did participate in many rescues in the Arctic, Greenland and Labrador. In Greenland, the teams were routinely sent out to bring back AWOL soldiers; the dogs were a big draw for the men and were used as somewhat of a lure. In addition to bringing out injured soldiers, Siberian Huskies also brought out top secret equipment to protect it from falling into enemy hands. Siberian Huskies were used by the US Army Combat Engineer Corps for transportation of men and equipment during the construction of the AlCan (Alaska-Canada) Highway! How cool! No pun intended. Well, perhaps it is. Ha roo roo roo!

We thought it was a great question! We are really proud of our Siberian Husky ancestors who have served! Sibes of the US military, we salute you!

What Really Happens

Ha roo, pups! It's me - Stormy. I was just reading over Davy's post from yesterday -- his version of what happens at our 6-month check up in the Senior Care Program. Hmm.... "tummy rubs", "met lots of people", "lots of cookies", etc. Sure, it was all those things, but there's much more. He and I ... look at things a little differently.

Dave on the left, me on the right

I totally agree with Dave about the wonderful people there and how kind they are! I just love seeing everyone! Instead of hugging all of them and rolling on the floor for tummy rubs, though, I like to tell them all about stuff! I'm a bit more "active" than he is, shall we say. Ha roo roo roo. But seriously, in addition to all the loving and cookies, here's the run-down on the Senior Care Program at the KSU Vet Hospital. The key principles are early detection, preventative care, and taking note of changes!

At our 6-month check-up, what Dave and I had this past week, they do the following:

- Thorough physical exam (ALL the basics!) to include checking each and every one of our joints!
- Oral and dental evaluation
- Eye exam (this involves lots of different kinds of drops, something involving a strip of paper in our eyes - I think to see if our tear production is enough so we can wear contacts, eye pressure, dilation, all kinds of stuff!)
- Rectal exam and anal sac expression, if needed (despite what Dave said, it does NOT just mean standing there eating cookies! Partly, but not totally!)
- Tumor mapping - they chart each lump and bump, measure them and test each one to make sure they're "nothing"
- Blood pressure
- Nutritional assessment
- Nail trim, if needed (we've never had them do ours - ours naturally get filed down on our walks; Mom does our dew claws herself - except for Zim... he doesn't have any!)

Let me see ... what all do they do at the yearly thing?

At the yearly check-up, they do all of the above, plus the following:

- Complete blood count
- Organ function and electrolyte profile /serum chemistry profile
- Thyroid screening
- Urinalysis
- Fecal exam for parasites
- Chest x-rays
- Blood pressure
- Heartworm test
- And we get a 12-month supply of Interceptor as part of the package

I think that's it!

So ... true, Dave covered the highlights, but it's more than hugs, cookies, and socializing! We just ALL like those parts best! Ha roo roo roo!

Mega-thanks to all our wonderful vets, students, vet techs, and staff members at KSU Vet Med Hospital for helping keep us in good heath!

Tail wags,
Stormy

Woo & Ha Roo from Dave & Storms

Woooo! It's me, Dave! And Storm sends her ha roooos! We were going to make this post together; it got too confusing, so Storm told me to post today and she'll post tomorrow. She's so smart!

Here we are, after she made her command decision:

Me on the left; Storm on the right

Anywoo... guess where we got to go this week? We both had our 6-month check ups in our Senior Care Program! Storm's appointment was Wednesday (yep, the day of the severe storms - it was a challenging day for her!) and I saw the vet people yesterday!

All-in-all, we both got very good results. There are a few little things, but we're in the "just keep an eye on them" stage. We're both very healthy seniors! (I am probably 9, by the way, and Stormy is probably 12.) The 6-month check up isn't as involved as the yearly one, but they're still pretty long appointments (I think we were each there about 4 hours) and the vets and the students really give us thorough exams!

Stormy is going to tell you more tomorrow about what all the exams entail; she said I could sum up what happens there, if I keep it short. She'll expand on it all tomorrow. Here goes; here's what happened at my appointment!

1. Met lots of people; hugged them, got tummy rubs, convinced them I am the most lovable, cooperative pup in all the world.
2. Laid on the exam room floor and got lots more tummy rubs. Hugged by Beth, our Vet Tech. Sort of heard the bipeds talk about things like blood pressure, tumor mapping, and the condition of my teeth, but it all went in one ear and out the other. Even when there was a cone-shaped thing with a flashlight in it stuck in my ear. Nothing really registered because of the tummy rubs.
3. They all gazed longingly into my eyes, and put special drops in them. A few times. Some strips of paper, too. I didn't really care; Beth was hugging me and everyone was saying how good I am. Woo.
4. Massaged by the student and the vet. A little extra attention to one of my back legs. More tummy rubs.
5. Got lots of cookies toward the end and was told not to pay attention to what anyone was doing at my end. Don't really know what that was all about - Mom offered me cookies, so I stood there quietly, chomping away.
6. More hugs, tummy rubs, told how wonderful I am.

That's about it. A pretty good morning, if you ask me. I was exhausted when we got home, though. All that socializing can wear a guy out!

Stormy will tell you more tomorrow - though I really don't think I left anything out. Oh, wait, Dr. Dixon did tell me she read our blog when we saluted our vets! That's really cool; I think she liked it! She also hugged me a lot and I hugged her and she asked Mom a lot about Stormy's recovery from her big surgery. (Dr. Dixon is the vet who helped Mom catch that bad tumor early so we could have it removed and have a healthy Stormy!!! YEA!!!) I really liked her. And my student Taies. I think I spelled that wrong ... she was really, really nice and smart and I should have paid attention to how to spell her name. I was distracted by the cookies and tummy rubs. Woo. I also got to meet Stormy's student Cory and I liked him a lot, too.

Tune back in tomorrow!

Luv,
Dave

Abrush and Aroller

Ha roo, everypup! It's me - Zim! I was reading our good friends' blog the other day - Tasha and Eva's blog. It was really cool - they posted about their mission as Troopers in the Ao4, complete with pictures and a video! They did really well, and we're tremendously proud of them!

They also mentioned that they've been going through some home renovations lately - and I had asked if my friend Adrill was there. Sadly, he wasn't, but they had those guys Abrush and Aroller there! I know them, too! The girls mentioned "almost" getting paint on their snooters. Um ... I think I may have done that a few years ago when Adrill, Abrush and Aroller were at our house. Wowzers, did I have fun when those guys were here!

Here are me and Dave out on the deck, after I was in checking on the guys' progress! Storm warned me that Mom might not want me helping them. I still can't understand that!

Mom got it in her head that I had been up to some mischief. Who.... me?

Honestly, sometimes it's like she doesn't trust me or something!

How could you doubt this face? Don't I look totally innocent? Ya know ... except for the paint on my snooter. Ha roo roo roo!

Tasha & Eva - thanks for telling Abrush and Aroller "ha roo" for me!

Play bows, all!

What Would You Rather Be Doing?

Greetings, readers. It's me - Storms. With a capital "S". Unfortunately, we're getting pounded with storms with a small "s" today. I really don't care for me with a small "s". Mom said I should try to think about things that make me happy to get my mind off the thunder and lightning. I had a really fun time a couple days ago, playing with my cool camo bone toy in the backyard ... so I am trying to think about that.

I ran after it and pounced on it a few times, playing "keep away" from Mom. That was fun!

Then I took it over into the shade of some Feather Reed Grass and tried to rip it up.

It's a real sturdy toy! I didn't rip it open, but I sure had fun making it squeak! The little dog who lives behind us heard the toy squeaking and started barking. He's left outside all day and has nothing to do.

That poor guy! I should show him my cool camo bone!

I went over to the retaining wall and struck a pose with my toy in my mouth.

Hey, little fella! You OK over there?

The little guy out back said he'd rather be running around our yard, playing with Mom and my squeaky camo bone. I can hardly blame him. That's what I'd rather be doing, too.

How about you? What would you rather be doing right now?

Tail wags,
Storms (capital "S", feeling a tad better now.)

Suspected Burglars Caught

Tail wags, all! It's me - Stormy. I just have to share with you a news story from our local area. It was published on 11 October 2007. Talk about being in the right place at the right time ... for the canines and the police, anyway. Ha roo roo roo!

Suspected Burglars Caught in KansasBy Mary Kaye Davis

JUNCTION CITY, Kan. — Several lucky breaks for police Wednesday in Junction City, Kan., led to arrests of the two men wanted in connection with two burglaries in Mt. Vernon and Perry County. Derek Breazeale, 28, and Joshua Snyder, 20, were arrested around 1:40 p.m. in a wooded area near Junction City, which is about 130 miles west of Kansas City, said Capt. Tim Brown of the Junction City Police Department this morning. The two men allegedly burglarized Bob Evans and Long John Silvers in Mt. Vernon on Friday and early Saturday morning. According to Brown the two men and two women were traveling down Interstate 70 near Junction City in a Suburban they allegedly had stolen from a home near Pinckneyville. An officer was along the road running radar and turned around on the interstate to stop the speeder. Breazeale, who was driving the Suburban, mistakenly thought the officer was attempting to pull them over and panicked, Brown said. “He drove the Suburban into the ditch and across an on-ramp,” Brown said. “They then abandoned the vehicle at a truck stop because it was disabled. They all jumped out of the vehicle and ran.” Brown said the two women were apprehended a short time later, however, not before one woman broke into a storage locker at the truck stop and took clothes to try and hide her identity. Brown said he didn’t have the names of the women immediately available, but they were from Kansas. Breazeale and Snyder continued to run, ending up in a wooded area about a quarter of a mile away, Brown said. “Luckily we were having a K-9 convention in town and there were at least 10 dog teams in the area to help us,” the police officer said. “We also called in aircraft to search, along with six other law enforcement agencies. The dogs really helped. They were just a Godsend. When we were talking to them after they were arrested they said that they just kept running from spot to spot but everywhere they went there was a dog team so they eventually gave up.” Brown said the men were arrested without incident. “They were pretty spent from running so much,” he said. “They didn’t have any energy to put up a fight.” Brown said that during a search of the vehicle ammunition was found, but no weapons. Breazeale and Snyder were arrested in Kansas on charges of possession of stolen property, obstruction of justice and on a burglary charge for burglarizing a residence in Manhattan, Kans., Brown said. He will face those charges first and then extradition hearings could begin for their Perry and Jefferson County charges. “Everybody wants them,” he said. “Everybody was calling about them.” Mt. Vernon Police Chief Chris Mendenall said this morning that he was aware of their arrests and would be in contact with Kansas officials later today.

This has got me rolling over with laughter! Way to go, police pups! Ha roo roo roo! I've gotta go tell Amber this one!

Tail wags,
Stormy
