Springtime in Kansas!

Ha roo, pups and pup-ettes! It's me - Zim! Springtime has hit Kansas and you know what that means! Yeah! Time for drinking coffee out on the deck!

Yeah... right there, Dad! Thanks!

Oooh, I love mornings spent like this! Ha ROO!

OK, just kidding. Have you seen Jazz and Dixie's blog lately? It's Cherry Blossom time in Japan, and those Beagle babes have posted some lovely pictures! Surf on over and check them out!

Here at our house, we don't have any bee-roo-tiful Cherry Blossoms, but we do have a Redspire Pear tree, an ornamental fruit tree, and I told Jazz and Dixie I'd post some pictures of it! The blossoms might get fuller, but with the storms that have been sweeping through here (rain, thunder, lightening, 40 mph winds...) we didn't want to take any chances with waiting!

Here's a shot Mom took this morning; it was raining so it's kinda bleak-looking. You can see how nicely it's shaped, though.

And here's a close-up from yesterday. Aren't they pretty? Can you smell them?

Dave likes it after the ornamental fruit has ripened and falls off in Winter and is smooshed on the sidewalk. He says after it's fermented a bit, they're really tasty. They're OK, but I'm not as into them as he is.

We have some Redbud trees starting to bloom, too. They look all purple-y and pretty! Here's a branch silhouetted up against our house.

Pretty cool, huh? We'll take pix of more stuff as it blooms. I think Dave and Mom took some of the Texas quince; Dave will share those soon, I'm sure!

Hope you all enjoy the pretty pix! Happy blossom-time!

Play bows,
Zim

  1. Very pretty! My human woman use to go to the cherry blossom festivals in Japan when she lived there. She said it is quite spectacular. Your ornamental pear tree is quite be-woo-ti-ful too!

I'll have to get some pictures of our blooming stuff, once it starts!

  2. The only thing blooming in my yard is the ripe odor of mud. Spring will be here soon, but right now it is mud season.

  9. So pretty! And a deck! I love NYC, but sometimes I wish the human would get me a house and my own yard. I mean, Central Park is great, but it's not like you have. Wow, I'm so envious! You guys are soooooo lucky!

  11. Hey Zim,
Thanks for sharing your spring blossoms with us. My that pear tree is really big and a good shape too. The close up was a great shot - yes we could smell those blossoms! We haven't seen any pears in bloom around here, it was plum, then peach and now cherry trees along with lots of other spring things like daffodils, tulips and poppies.
Today the cherry trees are in full bloom and the weather is superb!
Thanks again for sharing a Kansas spring with us.

    Magnum: Oooh... mud is good!

Althea: The other kind of Althea aren't doing much at all right now. I had mom take a picture of them and we'll post it so you can see.

  16. Tasha & Eva: We could still get snow here. Even though it was almost hitting 80 before the rains came in, Springtime in KS means anything goes, weather-wise!

Nothern Breed guys: Oooh! My mom wants one BAD! Thanks for the link!

Rock-star! Where you all been? We miss roo!
Cool - are you going to go see the Cherry Blossoms? When mom was a puppy and lived in the DC area, they used to go. If you get to see them, post pictures, OK?

Wimsey: Hey! Great to meet you! I love sitting out on our deck! We can see and smell for MILES up there (we live on top of a hill). Wanna come over?

Joe: That'd be cool - we'd love to see what you grow out there!

Jazz & Dixie: Glad you liked the pictures! It's a pretty tree and smells nice.
The daffodils and tulips are just coming up now. We don't have any in our yard; we used to but either Bambi or Thumper or someone ate the bulbs. Hope they liked them!

    Sitka: Mmmmm.... coffee!

Marvin: Are roo going to post pix of the stuff blooming in Scotland? We'd love to see it all!!

Charlie! Ha rooooooo! Please give my regards to the bee-woo-tiful Miss Opy!

    Luv,
    Dave

  17. Nice pictures!!!!! All we have is an apricot tree, it's pretty for a very short time & our lady hates it when all the fruit falls off, it makes a mess & attracts bugs & it just so happens to be right next to our pool. We however, love it when they fall off, specially when the lady chases us around trying to take them away, something about the pits being bad for us.
