Today, I thought I'd share our process with you, while showing a quilt we made for my Twin Brother of a Different Mother ~ Harley.
Before I forget, the rescue group Harley and the
Grrrls are closely associated with, MaPaw, is having a big on-line
fund-raiser! You can check out all the really cool items here! This group is near and dear to our hearts! Hey...
there are some very cool greeting cards in there that you can have YOUR picture put on! How cool would that be?
So... back to our quilt for Harley. And the Grrrls. We wanted to do a sturdy, highly washable denim "fray-edge" quilt for them and asked what kind of colors they like. Har wanted bright, bold 70's-type colors! Psychedelic! I went through a bunch of fabs and found these.
Yeah. These will all work great!
Mom stitched them to denim squares then tried to find the right layout. I helped with that, too, making sure the colors had the right play to them.
After a few changes, we had it just right!
Yeah. I like it. Here's a wider view.
I held it down, in case the wind kicked up in the Quilt Studio or something. Aren't I helpful?
Groovy, baby!
I was willing to help pin, but mom didn't think that was a good idea. I'm not sure why.
She got the machine busy, putting it all together, then she frayed it (I was willing to help with that, I thought it would be like shredding... but again, "no") and we took a picture.
Look! We made a far-out pillow, too!
Here's the other side of the quilt and pillow:
Har said he wanted it colorful - I sure hoped he meant it! We put it in a box and sent it off to that far away land called Pennsylvania. Here is Harley's reaction to his new quilt!
Look at how great it fits in with the other groovy decor in the room!
Oh! And mom sewed jeans pockets onto some of the blocks, so I snuck some snacks into them for an added treat for Har and the Grrrls!
As you can see, he caught on right away. I'm sure he shared with Juno and Flo!
I hope you enjoyed seeing our quilt and how hard I work as mom's GDFTCB. And please remember to check out the cool MaPaw fund-raiser! Thanx for reading!
Luv,
Dave
