Checking In on the Magic Bean Stalks

Ha roo, pupper-oohs! It's me - Zim! I thought it was time for another p-update on my bean stalks! You know, the ones I'm growing from the magic beans my aunt sent! Yeah, those ones!

Mom and I went into the back yard, and I stopped to check out the pots under the Purple Ash tree. Mom had poppies in there, but had to replace them with portulaca when the you-know-whats ate them. I think Am filled us in on those. Anyroo... I checked those first.

Hey, Mom! Looks like something's been eating the portulaca!

We walked a little further, so I could go check on other stuff. When I turned around, this is what I saw:

Hey, Zim! Wait for me!

Oh, NO! Not only are they getting bold ... but what about my magic bean stalks!?!? We raced right over! I was so worried about them!

Whew! They look OK. I guess drowning them in Bunny-Be-Gone every week is working. This one made me smile.

Glad you're OK, magic bean stalk!

Here's the line up of all three pots. They're looking good, aren't they?

Mom hit them with more Bunny-Be-Gone this morning. Even still, I'm going to have to keep close watch over them!

Before I close, it's our buddy Echo's birthday today! Surf on over to the Daily Echo and wish him a happy day!

Play bows,
Zim

  2. Are you going to climb the beanstalk when they get bigger? I guess you don't need a beanstalk to get to the land of the giants though.

  3. Why Thank Woo Zim! I'm feeling a little under the weather which really stinks when it's your birthday. No cake for me today but Mom promised we'll get some when I'm better. I wonder who lives at the top of those beanstalks. I guess we'll have to wait awhile longer to see. You might need a ladder!

  7. Good to see that the magic beans are growing so well. Keep an eye on those naughty bunnies and in no time you'll be able to climb right up into the clouds, well onto the deck at least.

  9. Amber, to answer your questions....Mom was sad but knew she couldn't handle us and the litle biped and a puppy with dad away on business all the time. Maximus's fur is starting to really look beeootiful ago (or so mom tells me) Sad thing was little biped LOVES Max and still talks about him and she didn't seem to recognize him :-( That made Mom sad. Come check out my garden!

  12. Actually, we're wondering why the bunnies haven't invaded our garden. Those beans look healthy & strong - we can see the magic already happening. Can we have a bean & squash exchange?

Mom already noticed one ripe tomato and got so excited!

  13. Holly: Before we started spraying Bunny-Be-Gone, they kept getting eaten!

Steve: They're my escape route in case the Giant comes after us!

Echo: Sorry you still aren't feeling good! I hope your tummy settles down so you can have CAKE!

Maggie: Mom doesn't understand why the WEEDS are the only things the bunnies don't eat!!

    Cubby: Isn't it cool!?!?

Sooky: I think we're going to give them food today to help them grow even bigger!

Jazz & Dixie: Maybe they'll grow all the way to the upper deck! WOW!
Mom said to please tell your mum they are "Hyancith Bean Vines" or You can see more info and grown up magic bean stalks at this link. Or this one. Their Latin name is Lablab purpurea. The flowers and beans are PURPLE!

Kelsey Ann: Thank roo! Oooh, your garden is chock-full-o-good things!

Maya Marie: It's exciting to grow stuff - but frustrating when the bunnies eat it!

Nugget: Can you believe those buns? The babies actually come running AT us now! !?!?!?

Guinness & Shiloh: Mom is more than willing to send you some bunnies! Ha roo roo roo!

    Play bows,
    Zim

  15. A-wooo,
Nice beanstalks, good job protecting them...
I could come by and show you MY approach to the bunny-be-gone problem, it clears them out & keeps them cleared out for good.
(sorry, it's just that I am such a good hunter, and bunnies are so tasty...)

    Woos,
